Lori Whitlock Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!!! Today I'm taking part in Lori Whitlock's Creative Team blog hop. If you are coming from Lisa's blog, you are in the right place. If you've just stumbled upon my post, then I'd love it if you'd start at the beginning, HERE.

The most difficult part of scrapbooking for me is choosing a layout design. So imagine my excitement when Lori released layout templates in svg format - which means I can cut the templates out using my Silhouette Cameo! There are various templates to choose from in her shop and the only difficulty is deciding which paper and photos to use.

I used the Four Seasons Spring Layout template and Lori's Patriotic Picnic collection available at Jessica Sprague.

This is a double page layout, but the template can be used to only make a single page layout as well.

I cut the flowers using different colour cardstock, layered it to give it a more 3-dimensional look and added pop-dots behind each flower.

Supplies used:

- Paper and elements: Patriotic Picnic Collection
- Circle background: 12x12 Circle

Here's your chance to win a $20 gift coupon to Lori Whitlock's shop. All you have to do to stand a chance to win this prize is return to Lori's blog and leave a comment about your favourite project in this blog hop. Good luck!

Here's the blog hop line-up, in case you got lost along the way:

Mini folder

I am a huge fan of Heidi Swapp's new memory file concept - you can fit so many photos in one layout. I thought I will create my own memory file with Lori Whitlock's file folders using my Cameo to cut the folder.

Lori will also be releasing a new digital paper collection over at Jessica Sprague today and there are 5 different colours to choose from - these papers are gorgeous!

This layout was super easy to assemble and the most difficult part was choosing my photos to use in the folder.

Supplies used:
- File Folder
- Geometric lace background
- You make me smile title
- Arrow strip border
- Paper clips
- Polaroid frame
- Chevron border
- Banner and flags
- 3x4 life cards

First Projects for 2013

I started a brand new work week on Wednesday - at least my week was only 3 days long! A good start to 2013!!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I recently joined the Jenni Bownlin Digital Creative Team. I decided to be brave and for my first project create a mix media project with Jenni's latest digital collection - Family Tree. This collection is available at Jessica Sprague.

I started off by printing two sheets of the paper using my colour printer and adhering these two sheets to my canvas using mod podge.
Once this dried, I added some acrylic paint and stamped around the edges to add some texture to the canvas. I printed the journaling tags on my colour printer and adhered it using mod podge. I painted two doilies with acrylic paint to add a vintage feel to this project. The banners and butterflies were cut out using my Silhouette Cameo and this was also adhered with mod podge.

In addition, I have another project to share with you today - a Valentines Card created with Lori Whitlock's latest collection - Kiss Me. I printed the paper and elements on my colour printer and the cute heart life card is from the Silhouette Online Store. This collection is perfect for all your Valentines Day projects.

Happy New Year!

It's time to say goodbye to 2012, hello 2013! Hope this new year will be blessed for each one of you - may all your dreams come true! 2012 has been a great year but I know that 2013 will be amazing!!

Speaking of 2013 being amazing...I was chosen to be part of Jenni Bowlin's Creative Team!!! How exciting!! I am a huge fan of Jenni's vintage style and can't wait to use her digital and traditional products to create projects.
I don't believe in new year's resolutions, but one thing I am hoping to achieve in 2013 is to have more blog posts. This will be an easy one to achieve I'm sure, seeing that I will be part of two new amazing Creative Teams (Lori Whitlock and Jenni Bowlin) I will be required to post my projects on a weekly basis. I'm really looking forward to sharing more of my projects, tips and techniques with everyone in this new year.

My first project for this new year was created with Lori's latest paper collection - Kiss Me. This is the perfect collection for Valentines Day!

This collection is available at Jessica Sprague.

Mini album

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends! In South Africa we spend the day outside in the sun and not cuddled up inside as most of you in the northern hemisphere do. I do wish i can experience a white Christmas once in my life - it must be so magical!?

I am so excited to announce that I will be part of Lori Whitlock's Creative Team from January 2013! Ever since I bought my Silhouette Cameo, I've been a huge fan of Lori Whitlock's cutting files in the Silhouette Online Store and I am so thrilled to be part of her amazing Creative Team!! Not only does she create the cutest cutting files, but she also designs scrapbooking products for Echo Park Paper and digital scrapbooking at Jessica Sprague, to name a few. She is such a talented artist!

I used the accordion fold binding mini album file to create this project. The paper is a digital collection from Jenni Bowlin Studio that I printed using my colour printer. I cut the files using my Silhouette Cameo and it was so fun and easy to assemble. The album measures approximately 7.5"x5.75"x1.5" upon completion. This is a great gift idea - the person that you giving this to can just add photos and journaling.

The 3D flower is also one of Lori's cutting files that I cut with the Cameo.

Christmas Cards

I am one of those people that believes in only giving handmade greeting cards and what better time of year to share these cards then Christmas? What made the creation of my cards so exciting but difficult at the same time, was that I'm part of the Jessica Sprague Creative Team so I had access to all these amazing designers but which designer's Christmas Collection do I use????

I love the look of vintage Christmas collections and my favorite one to create with this year was Echo Park This & That Christmas by designer Lori Whitlock. This collection can be purchased here.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the card shape and the print & cut feature to cut the elements.
I challenge you to create your own Christmas cards this year - there are so many amazing collections out there and the people you give it to, appreciate them more!

DigiChick Homecoming Parade Float

If you follow my blog, you would have noticed that I love creating 3D hybrid projects and I always turn to that type of craft when I need some inspiration.
You can imagine my excitement when Lu-Ann from the The Hybrid Chick asked if I could be a guest blogger on their blog and that my my first project will be to create a homecoming float.

Her instructions to me were to use a combination of templates from Kelleigh Ratzlaff (as I am one of her creative team members) and papers & elements from only one designer in The Digichick Shop. I chose to work with Designs by Dani and opted for a "Under the Sea"-theme.

This is what I came up with:

What a fun project - it really got my creative juices flowing!

Supplies and templates used:
- Digital Die-cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo
- Paper: Mermaid Lagoon by Megan Turnidge
- Cutting files: Cupcaked-shaped box; Pinwheels; StarSpangled; Sweet Strawberry set - Kelleigh Ratzlaff
- Cardstock: American Crafts

Hop on over to the DigiChick forum for some great specials and enjoy the rest of the parade!

I'm back....

Today I want to share a mini album I created using the Echo Park Everyday Eclectic collection that will be released in Jessica Sprague's website next week. This album was so easy to create as I just glued 6 pieces of pattern paper back-to-back and created a cover to cover the album.

I cut the elements using the print and cut feature on my ever trusting Silhouette Cameo.

Hope you have a wonderful and creative week!

Hot Air Balloon

Today I'm sharing a project I created using one of Kelleigh Ratzlaff's templates and paper & elements from a new designer at Jessica Sprague - Designs by Dani.

For this project, I used Kelleigh's Perfect Pumpkin Cutting file.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the SVG file. I resized the lid and bottom so that the lid will be larger than the bottom. The lid will form the balloon part of the project and the bottom will be the basket.

I folded the pieces using the score lines and glued them together. I then cut 6 pieces of thin wire (about 4" each) and glued bakers twine to each piece. The next step was to glue these bakers twine wires to the inside of the bottom piece. This will form the suspension cables of the project.

I then glued these wires to the lid so that the top piece will be suspended from the bottom piece. The final step was to decorate the project with embellishments - I used the print and cut functionality of the Cameo for this.

And the end result......a HOT AIR BALLOON!!!

Supplies used:- Pumpkin shaped box by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs
- Paper and embellishments by Designs by Dani (Coming soon at Jessica Sprague)
- 3D clouds by Snapdragon Snippets
- Silhouette Cameo
- Heritage Scrapbook Glue
- Bakers Twine
