Scrap-a-Doodles Design Team Finals 2014

Thank you so much to Scrap-a-Doodles for choosing me as one of the 10 finalists for the Design Team Auditions! It's such an honor to be in the company of the other 9 hugely talented finalists!!!

This is my audition for the final round and I created a video tutorial of the project I made. I'm also including a printable document if you want to follow the instructions and make this project on your own. This document can be found here.

I designed a mini album that fits inside a box photo frame - this can be displayed in your home as a decorative piece.

The pages are very interactive and it was such a fun project to create.

Here is a peak inside this mini album - I used black & white photos as this adds to the vintage feel of the album.

I used a photo stack to house more of my photos:

Here is the video to show you how I assembled the mini album:

Scrap-a-Doodles Design Team 2014 Audition

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am so excited to share my projects with you as part of my application to the Scrap-a-Doodles Design Team.

I decided to share different types of projects with you to give you an indication of my crafting style and what type of projects I love to create.

The first project is a hybrid project that I created for The Digi Chick. I was part of the Kelleigh Ratzlaff design team and they noticed my love for 3-dimensional projects and asked me to create a special project for their annual "Homecoming parade". I created a float using some of Kelleigh's designs and cut files, namely; a strawberry cut file that I converted into a fish and a lobster, a pinwheel cut file and a cupcake cut file that I converted into a shell.

Final project

Fish

Lobster

Supplies and templates used:
- Digital die-cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo
- Paper: Mermaid Lagoon by Megan Turnidge
- Cutting files: Cupcake-shaped box; Pinwheels; StarSpangled; Sweet Strawberry set - Kelleigh Ratzlaff
- Cardstock: American Crafts

The first project I created for Kelleigh Ratzlaff's team was a carousel using her cupcake template cut file.

Supplies used:
- Paper: Trim Craft - Bird Song
- Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
- Glue: Heritage Scrapbook Glue
- Digital die-cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo

The next project is a scrapbook page I created for the Jenni Bowlin Design Team. Scrapbooking is my favourite hobby as this not only allows me to use the awesome products that are available in the market, but I also want to preserve the special memories that are captured in the photos that I take with my digital camera or cellphone.

Supplies used:
- Pattern paper, flatbacks and borders: JBS Haven Collection
- Cardstock: Bazzil Basics
- Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Black Velvet)
- Arrows cut with Silhouette Cameo

The next project is another scrapbook layout using Heidi Swapp's products. To say I'm a huge fan of Heidi's products is an understatement! I love Heidi's innovative scrapbook products and it's such a reflection of her personality and style.
I created the background using a stencil, texture paste and spray mist.

Supplies used:
- Pattern paper: Heidi Swapp Serendipity
- Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
- Embellishmenst: Heidi Swapp Mixed Company
- Stencil: Heidi Swapp
- Rub-ons: Heidi Swapp Mixed Company
- Texture paste
- Spray mist: Prima Marketing Color Bloom
- Doily: Dovecraft
- Shipping tags cut using the Silhouette Cameo

I love creating mini albums and therefore I'm submitting a recent project I created using 6x6 paper and various mixed media techniques.

The cover was made using clear plastic paper which allows a peek of the first page in the album.

The next page was also made using half a piece of clear plastic paper and half a piece of normal 6x6 paper that I cut in half.

This die-cut piece was made using watercolour paper and the Silhouette Cameo. I sprayed it with the Prima Color Bloom ink spray.

I did not have the right embellishments in my stash for the next page and used shrink plastic to create the butterflies. I designed the butterflies using the Designer Edition of the Silhouette software, printed it out on my home printer and cut it out using a craft knife. The fun part was using my heat gun to heat the plastic and watch it shrink right before my eyes.

Supplies used:
- Clear plastic paper: Bazzill Basics
- Embellishments: Heidi Swapp Color Magic Ephemera, Silhouette designs
- Pattern paper: Maggie Holmes Flea Market, Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Heidi Swapp Serendipity, Hedi Swapp Hello Today, Heidi Swapp Color Magic Paper, Heidi Swapp Sugar Chick
- Cardstock: Bazzill Basic
- Spray mist: Prima Marketing Color Bloom (Tangerine, Soft Tea, Sun Shine), Heidi Swapp Color Shine (Mint Green, Citrus, Blush, Tinsel)

For my last submission, I created a few handmade cards. I am a firm believer in giving handmade cards to friends and family - it just adds that special touch to a gift.

Lori Whitlock Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!!! Today I'm taking part in Lori Whitlock's Creative Team blog hop. If you are coming from Lisa's blog, you are in the right place. If you've just stumbled upon my post, then I'd love it if you'd start at the beginning, HERE.

The most difficult part of scrapbooking for me is choosing a layout design. So imagine my excitement when Lori released layout templates in svg format - which means I can cut the templates out using my Silhouette Cameo! There are various templates to choose from in her shop and the only difficulty is deciding which paper and photos to use.

I used the Four Seasons Spring Layout template and Lori's Patriotic Picnic collection available at Jessica Sprague.

This is a double page layout, but the template can be used to only make a single page layout as well.

I cut the flowers using different colour cardstock, layered it to give it a more 3-dimensional look and added pop-dots behind each flower.

Supplies used:

- Paper and elements: Patriotic Picnic Collection
- Circle background: 12x12 Circle

Here's your chance to win a $20 gift coupon to Lori Whitlock's shop. All you have to do to stand a chance to win this prize is return to Lori's blog and leave a comment about your favourite project in this blog hop. Good luck!

Here's the blog hop line-up, in case you got lost along the way:
